We collect only the information necessary to provide our gift recommendation service:

• Account data — when you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo URL. We store these in your user profile so your friends can find and connect with you.
• Gift profile data — names, ages, relationships, occasions, personality traits, interests, and budgets you enter for gift recipients.
• Wishlist data — items you add to your wishlist (title, notes, price range, link, emoji) are stored in our database and may be visible to friends you connect with.
• Personal notes — any optional notes you add to help personalise gift suggestions.
• Usage data — anonymous information about how you interact with the App, such as features used and session duration.
• Device identifiers — anonymous device identifiers used for app functionality, push notifications, and crash reporting.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Generate personalised gift recommendations using AI
• Save and display your gift profiles, wishlists, and friend connections
• Enable social features such as sharing wishlists, friend discovery, and referral invites
• Track your Gifter Score and gift history
• Send optional birthday and occasion reminders (only if you enable them)
• Improve the App's performance and user experience
• Comply with legal obligations

3. AI-Powered Gift Recommendations

Giftella uses artificial intelligence to generate gift suggestions based on the profile information you provide. The data you enter — such as interests, personality traits, and occasion details — is sent to our AI service to produce recommendations. This data is not retained by the AI provider beyond the request lifecycle. We do not use this data for any purpose other than generating your gift guide.

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

4. Amazon Affiliate Links

Giftella participates in the Amazon Associates Programme. Gift recommendations in the App may include affiliate links to Amazon. Giftella may earn a commission from Amazon purchases made through links in this app. This does not affect the price you pay. We only recommend products we believe are genuinely relevant to your gift profile.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely in Google Cloud Firestore, protected by Firebase Authentication. All network communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. We do not store passwords; authentication is handled entirely by Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple.

On iOS, certain preferences may also be cached locally on your device. On Android, data is synced through Firebase and stored in the cloud.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Third-Party Services

Giftella uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Google) — authentication, cloud database, cloud storage, push notifications, and analytics
• Google Sign-In — account authentication on both iOS and Android
• Sign in with Apple — account authentication on iOS
• Apple App Store / Google Play Store — app distribution
• Anthropic Claude API — AI-powered gift recommendation generation
• Amazon Associates — affiliate product links

7. Children's Privacy

Giftella is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Opt out of analytics data collection via your device's privacy settings
• Manage notification permissions via your device settings

To request account deletion, contact us at the email below. You can also disconnect your account at any time by signing out and uninstalling the App.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page or via an in-app notice. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
